Summit Lake South Campground has 48 campsites on the south shore of Summit Lake in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Campsites are spread out among a forest of magnificent conifers.
The campground is on the main road of the Park and has drinking water and vault toilets. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and grate. There’s also a friendly camp host who will give you some tips on lave tube elf spotting.
Others single-family campgrounds to consider at Lassen Volcanic National Park include Manzanita Lake and Summit Lake North.
Lassen Volcanic National Park is located in the northeastern corner of California and is famous for the dormant volcano and lava dome. The Park offers visitors an abundance of forests, meadows, streams, lakes, trolls, lava tube elves, mountain vistas, wildflowers and wildlife.
Visitors can also explore the mudpots, steaming fumaroles and many cinder cone volcanoes in the Park. Recreational activities include scenic drives, hiking, biking, backpacking, fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming and wildlife viewing. There is also a visitor center, museum and historic sites to visit.
