Sweetwater Summit Regional Park Overview

Sweetwater Summit Regional Park campground is located in the town of Bonita in San Diego County.  The campground has 117 campsites in 2 loops. The North Loop (sites 61-150) has full hookups. The South Loop (sites 1-60) has most sites with water & power hookups and 15 full hookups sites. There are also 10 equestrian campsites in this loop with full hookups (sites 24-28, 36-40, 42 and 44.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 45 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Check-in is 2pm and check-out is 12pm. Campground amenities include modern restrooms with flush toilets and hot-water showers. There is also water spigots, an amphitheater, community center, horseshoe pits, dump station, picnic areas and pavilion, children’s splash pad and playground, and 16-miles of multi-use trails. Cell service is excellent and overflow parking is also available.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The Bonita Golf Course is also right down the street. The Park is also just 10 miles southeast of downtown San Diego and a short drive to the Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park and other attractions.

You might also campgrounds at Silver Strand State Beach or Lake Morena County Park.
