Tijuana River Valley Regional Park is a new facility (April, 2021) and is located next to the Mexican Border in San Diego, CA. It’s also just a mile from the ocean/beach. The 79-acre campground has 46 standard campsites (16 are tent only), 5 equestrian campsites and 10 yurts. The yurts have bed frames/mattresses for 6 to 10 people.
The standard campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. The equestrian campsites have corrals.
Amenities include potable (drinking) water (spigots), flush toilets, hot-water showers, horseshoe pits and trash collection. Cell service is good and overflow parking is available. The park also has over 20 miles of mixed-used trails, a nature education center, amphitheater, nature play area, butterfly garden and 5 ballfields.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. It’s also a good basecamp to visit Mexico (Tijuana border crossing), as well as the beaches and attractions around San Diego.
