Tuttle Creek Campground offers 83 single-family campsites all with spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Owen’s Valley. All of the 83 individual campsites are first-come, first-served.
One group campsite is also available. It is approximately the size of four sites combined and has with six picnic tables and four fire pits. Tent camping will accommodate up to 15 people comfortably. There is also space for 4 RVs. Please call for group site reservations (760) 872-5000.
The two horse corrals are available for $10.00 per night, including the associated site. Weed-free hay is required. Reservations accepted.
The campground is open year round. Amenities include drinking water (March – October), flush toilets and a dump station (closed in winter and when water is shut off). Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a parking spur (up to 40 feet), table, lantern post, fire ring and grate. There are also two sites with equestrian corrals. Firewood is available for sale from the campground host. Cell service is also fair in the area.
Mt. Whitney (the tallest peak in the continental US), Lone Pine Peak and Mt. Williamson all can bee seen to the west of the campground. To the east is the Alabama Hills with its famous movie history. The Lone Pine Film History Museum is also located in the nearby town of Lone Pine. Camping is good throughout the season with plenty of opportunities for fishing, horseback riding, exploring, hiking, mountain biking, stargazing, sightseeing and wildlife viewing.
Whitney Portal and Lone Pine campgrounds are also nearby. And you may be interested in Fossil Falls, Diaz Lake or Portuguese Joe campgrounds.

We are thinking of coming up to the Campgrounds this Fri, Sat, Nov. 9 and 10. Is there still fishing available.

Fishing is available at Tuttle Creek campground, but we recommend contacting the local sporting goods store in Lone Pine for conditions. Lone Pine Sporting Goods should be able to provide you with good information. Their number: 760-876-5365
Is the group campsite still available for this upcoming weekend? (17th-19th). If so, how can I reserve?

There is also one group campsite available. It can be reserved by calling the Bureau of Land Management office at 760 872-5000.
when are the best times to come camping before thanksgiving

I doubt Tuttle Creek will be sold out over Thanksgiving weekend, but a Wednesday morning arrival would probably be a good idea to get a campsite.

Are there campsites that are hidden or mildly secluded from the other campsites.

There isn’t much vegetation in between Tuttle Creek campsites – it’s pretty open out there. Probably the most secluded campsites (with room in between others) include 24-28 and 51-55.
How does the group campsite compare to the other sites as far as view and vegetation?

I’d say the view and vegetation from the group campsite is almost the same as from the single-family campsites at Tuttle Creek . . . really nice view!
It says recommended rv length 30ft or less.. But some sites look very big.. Would I be able to fit my 40 ft hauler in some of the sites?

Although the BLM site says up to ’30 feet’ as being recommended, there are certainly some campsites at Tuttle Creek that would fit a 40 foot trailer.
How can I reserve the equestrian campsites? On the website it ask for reservations under the Bishop office number. But nobody ever picks up the phone or calls back after leaving messages.
Not sure. Seems reaching someone on the phone regarding campgrounds in general is very difficult. You probably have tried the reservation/BLM number: (760) 872-5000. You can also try this one: (760) 872-5008, but that might route to the same place.
