Vallecito Stage Station County Park includes 71-acres, has 41 campsites and features the reconstructed historic Butterfield Stage Station. This desert area has been a campsite for hundreds of years starting with the Kumeyaay Indians to present day campers. The Stage Station is said to be haunted so if you want to try and spot a ghost you might want to try sites 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 as they are closest to the station. You may also try sites 14 and 15 as they are closest to the historic cemetery.
Vallecito Stage Station campground has 51 primitive sites with 22 trailer/RV sites (no hookups), 22 tents sites, 8 equestrian sites (each with 3 corrals, but no water) and 1 youth area (up to 35 people). Campsites 23-44 are a little larger and have more space between campsites. Sites E1 to E8 are equestrian campsites.
Outdoor activities include hiking, biking, OHVing, stargazing, looking for lost treasure, ghost hunting and wildlife viewing.
Agua Caliente County Park is just 4 miles away and has some delightful hot springs and 142 campsites.
