Volcano Adventure Camp Overview

Volcano Adventure Camp (formerly Crags) is a youth group camping facility to better serve young visitors and introduce them to Volcano National Park.

It is available for use by school groups, educational groups, scouting organizations, and also at-risk/underserved youth groups.   Please visit the National Park Service Volcano Adventure Camp page or the Lassen Park Foundation to learn more and apply for a grant. The Volcano Adventure Camp consists of 2 group camping areas and includes 5 tent cabins, a picnic/cooking pavilion and and amphitheater. It also has drinking water, vault toilets and shower facilities.

Others single-family campgrounds to consider at Lassen Volcanic National Park include Summit Lake South, Summit Lake North and Manzanita Lake.

Volcano Adventure Camp – Lassen Volcanic National Park Area Recreation

Lassen Volcanic National Park offers visitors an abundance of forests, meadows, streams, lakes, trolls, elves, mountain vistas, wildflowers and wildlife. It’s also famous for the dormant volcano/lava dome.

Visitors can also explore the mudpots, steaming fumaroles and many cinder cone volcanoes in the Park. Recreational activities include scenic drives, hiking, biking, backpacking, horseback riding, fishing, and wildlife viewing. There is also a visitor center, museum and historic sites to visit.

    Crags Campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park was converted in 2015 to Volcano Adventure Youth Camp. It is available for use through the Lassen Park Foundation and for youth organizations only.
