Almont Overview

Almont 001

Almont Campground has 10 single-family campsites and is located within walking distance of where the East River and Taylor River join to form the Gunnison River. The area also offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and landscape.

Campsites are first-come first-serve and can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. There are no hookups. Amenities include potable (drinking) water from a hand pump and 2 vault toilets. Firewood is also available for purchase from the camp host.

Other campgrounds in the area include Gold Creek, North Bank, Rosy Lane, One Mile, Lodgepole, Lottis Creek and Lakeview.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, ATVing, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. You can also kayak or raft the river during good water flow.
