Angel of Shavano Group Campground is located near Angel of Shavano (family) Campground and very close to the North Fork South Arkansas River in the Rocky Mountains. The area offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains with aspen and spruce trees throughout the area.

The group site can accommodate up to 100 people and 24 vehicles (up to 40 feet). Tent camping and small popup trailers are permitted (in 60′ x 120′ parking area). The site also has tables, six pedestal grills, a campfire circle, covered picnic shelter, vault toilets and trash collection. Drinking water is not available at the group campground but it is next door at the family campground. You can also purchase firewood from the camp host over at the family campground.

Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, stargazing, picnicking and wildlife viewing.  The Colorado Trail also begins within the campground.

The city of Salida is also 30 minutes away, where visitors can take a scenic tram ride, experience a zip-line, play a round of mini golf or go whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River.

Other campgrounds in the area include Monarch Park, Cascade, Chalk Lake, Mount Princeton, North Fork and Bootleg.
