Ansel Watrous Campground has 17 campsites and is next to the Cache La Poudre River at an elevation of 5,800 feet. The general area varies from heavily forested to open meadow, and is surrounded by steep mountains.

The campground is open year-round. Amenities includes drinking water (through late September), vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is not available in the area.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. The lower loop does not allow trailers. The upper loop is open year-round. Sites also have a parking spur (ranging in size from 25 to 45 feet), table, fire ring, grill and some have tent pads (12×15 feet). Those sites with tent pads also have a bear locker.

Outdoor Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes whitewater rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, stargazing, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds in the area include Stove Prairie, Narrows, Mountain Park, Jacks Gulch, West Lake, Dutch George and Kelly Flats.
