Big Cimarron Campground Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest Colorado

Big Cimarron Overview

Big Cimarron Campground has 10 campsites (first-come, first-serve) and is located in a forested area next to the Cimarron River and near Beaver Lake. About half of the campsites are riverfront. A horse corral across from the campground may be available if not being used by range permittees for ranching operation.

The remote campground is generally open late May to early October. Amenities include a vault toilet and trash collection. Potable (drinking) water is not available but you can fill up at nearby Silver Jack Campground. Cell service is not available in the area. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 30 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill.

Big Cimarron Campground – Area Recreation and Activities

Hunting and fishing are popular in the area. Other recreation includes hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
