Camp Hale Memorial Campground has 21 single-family campsites and is located in the Camp Hale National Historic Site and the White River National Forest.
The campground sits at 9,200 feet and also near the headwaters of the Eagle River with the East Fork River close by. Amenities include vault toilets (no water available). Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and grate.
This historic area was once where 15,000 men trained in mountaineering and skiing techniques during WWII. Most buildings have been torn down, but some foundations and other “footprints” remain. Fishing is also popular in many of the nearby streams. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, picnicking, OHVing and wildlife viewing.

Nice quiet campsite. Clean and well kept. Our spot (3) had decent shade. Decent hikes nearby, a small stream right outside the campground. Short drive to Leadville. No cell service in the valley that the campsites are in.
