Great Sand Dunes National Park Pinon Flats Overview

Great Sand Dunes National Park Pinon Flats campground has 88 single-family campsites in two loops with views of the spectacular dunes. Some sites have large cottonwood or conifer trees for shade, while others are more out in the open with smaller Pinon trees. A few sites can fit RVs up to 35 feet. Loops 1 (sites 1 to 44) are first-come, first-served year-round. Loop 2 (sites 45 to 88) are reservable up to six months in advance from May 9 to September 3. Group camping is available.

The campground has a dump station, drinking water and flush toilets. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Firewood is also available for sale here. Cell service is fair in the area.

Pinon Flats – Great Sand Dunes National Park Area Recreation

Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve feature the tallest dunes in North America. The dunes spread over 30 square miles, but the Park also offers a diverse landscape of grasslands, wetlands, forests, lakes and tundra. Activities include hiking, sand sledding, picnicking, backpacking, photography, wildlife viewing and more.
