Haviland Lake Campground San Juan National Forest Colorado

Haviland Lake Overview

Haviland Lake 002

Haviland Lake Campground has 43 campsites (17 with electric hookups) and is located on the shores of Haviland Lake. There are 26 reservable campsites and all have beautiful views of the Hermosa Cliffs.  Ponderosa pines also provide nice shade to most campsites and some are near the lakeshore.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 45 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Campground amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available for purchase from the camp host. Cell service is fair. Overflow parking is not available.

Check-in time is 2pm and check-out is 12pm. Generator use is okay but quiet time is from 10pm to 6am.

Area Recreation & Activities

Haviland Lake is an 80-acre, no-wake lake with excellent boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing opportunities. An accessible fishing dock is located on the lakeshore. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The historic Rico-to-Rockwood Wagon Road passes through Haviland and Chris Park. Built in the late 1800s, the road was used for six years until the railway opened.

Chris Park Group Campground is nearby. You might also like Mancos Lake State Park.
