Horseshoe campground has 19 campsites along Horseshoe creek at the base of Sheep Mountain in the San Isabel National Forest. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 20 feet) and sit among large trees that provide nice shade and good privacy between sites. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Cell service is fair in the area.
The campground provides an excellent basecamp to climb some of the 14k peaks in the area including Mt. Sherman, Lincon, Bross and Democrat. You’ll have fantastic views of the surround mountains and also enjoy fishing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, picnicking, and wildlife viewing.
Fourmile campground is another option and is 1.5 miles away.
