Island Lake Campground has 41 campsites and is located in a thick grove of mature spruce about 1/4 mile from the lake. Campsites 1-8 have electric hookups (50 amp). A few of the campsites also have panoramic views of the Grand Valley and several of the lakes below. The campground is usually open mid June to early October.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (40 to 100 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. There’s also a boat ramp, fishing pier and fish cleaning station down by the lake. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Day-use parking and boat trailer parking are available for a small fee. And don’t forget the mosquito repellent!
Other campgrounds in the area include Little Bear, Cobbett Lake, Jumbo, Ward Lake, Spruce Grove and Crag Crest.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, OHV trail riding, horseback riding, climbing, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
