Kenosha East campground has 12 single-family campsites and is first-come, first-serve. It offers a nice basecamp for hiking, mountain biking and ATVing.
Most campsites have plenty of room for a trailer and each campsite has table, fire ring and grill. The campground does not have drinking water or firewood, but it does have delightful vault toilets. Keep in mind that this is a wetland interpretative area and the remnants of the South Park and Pacific Railroad. Apparently you may get a visit from a choo choo (‘helper’ engines) that assist regular engines in getting the train to the top of the pass.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, mountain biking, ATVing, horseback riding, hunting, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
You may also like Kenosha Pass campground which is located across Highway 285. Jefferson Creek campground is also in the area.
