Kroeger Overview

Kroeger Campground has 10 single-family campsites and is located in beautiful La Plata Canyon at 8,900 feet. Campsites are first-come, first-serve and set among a mixture of spruce, fir, aspen and cottonwood.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. One site can handle a larger RV, but most sites are small. There is also one site with two tables and a larger parking area.

Campground amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. All trash must be packed out. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill. Cell service is unreliable. Generators are okay from 6am to 10pm.

Other nearby developed campgrounds include Snowslide and Target Tree. There’s also a few dispersed (free) camping areas.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing (nearby La Plata River), hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, OHV trail riding, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
