Lone Rock Campground has 19 campsites and is located on a hill overlooking the South Platte River in Pike National Forest (CO). Many of the campsites have great views of the river and some are right on the river bank.
The campground has two vault toilets and drinking water. Trash collection is also provided. Each site can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 40 feet). Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill. Cell service is not available in the area.
The South Plate River also offers world-class fly fishing. Other outdoor activities include backpacking, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, picnicking and wildlife viewing (moose, deer, owls, eagles and more).
If you’re traveling south, you may also be interested in Mueller State Park. It has 132 campsites. Buffalo Campground, Kelsey and Meadows Group are also nearby.

I have #6 reserved. Does one park a popup camper on the road next to the campsite? Its difficult to tell from the photos. Thanks.
Hi Sam,
Yes, you’ll be able to parallel park your vehicle and popup camper along the curb at Lone Rock campsite #6.
I have also reserved site #6 and cannot figure out the parking of my pop up..is it on the road or the end parking spot?
Hi Brian,
Campsite #6 has a parking area next to the campsite. You can click on the ‘Campground Map’ button to get a better idea.
This is first time staying here. I have reserved camp site 10. Does campsites have electricity? We have RV.
Hi Brenda,
All campsites, including your campsite #10 at Lone Rock campground do not have electric hookups. You have a nice site though – right on the river! Have a great time.

Hi Patty,
Yes dogs/pets are allowed at Lone Rock campground but must be on a leash.
I have reservations on June 8 and 9. Will tent camping at Lone Rock be open at that time?
Hi Pat, Lone Rock campground is still closed due to Covid restrictions, but (per Recreation.gov) it looks like it’ll be reopening around June 2. I recommend staying in touch with Rec.gov to confirm right before your trip.
What sites have water access or are on the river?

How many tents allowed per site?
Hi Michelle,
Generally no more than 3, but the camp host may permit more as long as they all fit within your campsite.
