Molas Lake Park and Campground has 61 campsites and provides visitors with unforgettable scenery, a stocked 25-acre lake, National Forest access via the Colorado Trail and dark starry skies free from light pollution.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. The 3 Lake-View Ultra RV campsites (URV2, URV3 and URV4) sit on a hill overlooking the lake and can handle large trailers/RVs of any size. Most of the other campsites are on the small side. Walk-to campsites (W1-W5) are also available. The walk is about 50 to 200 feet.

Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. The closest dump station is 5 miles away in Silverton. Trailers/RVs can fill up water (up to 30 gallons) at the campground.

Area Recreation & Activities

The 137-acre park/campground was granted to the nearby town of Silverton in 1925 from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.  It also sits along the Million Dollar Highway (US 550) in the central San. Juan Mountains and offers visitors vies of Colorado’s most spectacular peaks. It is also adjacent to the largest wilderness area (Weminuche Wilderness) in Colorado.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating (non-motorized), kayaking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Paddle boards (SUPs) and kayaks are also available for rent at the lake. Other activities in the area includes horseback riding, hunting, and OHV trail riding.

You might also like Elk Ridge Campground up in Ridgway State Park. Mancos State Park is also nice.
