  1. A nice campground in an idyllic setting. Our last visit was in the summer of 2021 and the campground was suffering from a few issues that prevents us from giving this location a higher rating. The campground location and setting are wonderful however some campsites need improvements with some leveling work and brush/tree pruning. Depending on the size of your rig, you may have to actually drive up and reverse into your site in the reverse direction of normal traffic to get a decent angle to back into your site – but this is not a major issue. During our visit, the well had ran dry (so they told us) and as a result the dump station, bathroom/showers, and drinking water thats usually available from several water spigot along the campground perimeter road were either not working and closed or had very low pressure. Water was trucked in and dumped into the well which stirred up the sediments and left us with cloudy water for a couple of days. No plans were in place to fix the problems. Porta potties were set up for campers in tents or without bathrooms. There is no cell service or electricity at these sites. We did use the fee based RV dump station on a previous visit but now closed. The dump station (f ever opened again) parking pad is on a slight curve and angled away from the actual dump so getting a complete dump can be fairly difficult for all but the smallest of campers. We now use other facilities along the highways. Fishing, kayaking, boating etc. are great on the reservoir. The boat ramp is first rate as well. Fly fishing below the dam is supposed to be world class though the river banks can get very crowded. The cement bike path next to Basalt high school runs all the way into Aspen and carbondale and in great condition for biking, walking, jogging.
