Morefield Campground is located in Mesa Verde National Park and has 267 campsites on loop roads extending through a grassy canyon filled with oak, native flowers and wildlife. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (15 RV sites with full hookups). Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate.
The campground is open mid April through October, but only primitive camping from mid October.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, dump station and laundry facilities. There’s also a visitor center, grocery store, gas station and gift shop nearby. And if you’re hungry for an all-you-can eat pancake breakfast, then head on over to the Knife Edge Cafe in Morefield’s full-service village.
Mesa Verde National Park offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years, from A.D. 600 to 1300. Today the park protects nearly 5,000 known archeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the United States including the Cliff Palace, Tower House, Long House, Step House and others. Other outdoor recreation includes hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, visiting the museums and wildlife viewing.
