Soap Creek Campground Curecanti National Recreation Area Colorado

Soap Creek Overview

Soap Creek Campground has 21 campsites and is located along Soap Creek in a beautiful canyon near Blue Mesa Reservoir. It also provides easy access to the southern trails of West Elk Wilderness.

All campsites are first-come first-serve. The campground is generally open late May to late September. Amenities include water (hand pump), vault toilets and trash collection. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 40 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Equestrian capers can also use the horse corrals and bins adjacent to the campground. Cell service is not available in the area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Ponderosa and Lake Fork.

Soap Creek Campground – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, paddle-boarding, water sports, swimming, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, stargazing and picnicking. Wildlife viewing can also be good in the area.
