Spruce Grove Campground has 27 campsites nestled among large rock outcroppings along Tarryall Creek. The campground has great access to the nearby Lost Creek Wilderness. Bayou Salado Reservoir is also nearby.
The campground is generally open mid-May to early October. Reservations are recommended in the busy summer months. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 35 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill.
Buffalo Springs Campground is about 60 minutes west. Nearby first-come, first-serve campgrounds include Twin Eagle (1 mile), Goose Creek (6 miles), Round Mountain (8 miles) and Happy Meadows (10 miles).
Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hunting, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, backpacking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
From the campground, hikers and horseback riders can traverse the Lizard Rock Trail, a 2.5-mile trail that passes Hankins Pass Trail and intersects with the Brookside-McCurdy Trail.
