State Forest State Park Mendenhall Campground loop offers over 40 primitive campsites in two remote locations. Several are accessible from State Highway 14 and other in the Northern section of the park along Mendenhall Road. The sites accessible from State Highway 14 are located along County Road 41 and the Bockman, Montgomery Pass, Francisco Loop and Ruby Jewel roads. Those along Mendenhall Road require high-clearance 4-wheel drive vehicles to reach. Cell service is not available in the area.
Other campgrounds at the park include Bockman, Crags, North Michigan, North Park and Ranger Lakes.
Outdoor activities in the area include boating, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, horseback riding, hunting and wildlife viewing. Visitors can also enjoy ice fishing, snow shoeing, snow sledding and snowmobiling during the winter months.
The ultimate in rugged Colorado, State Forest State Park offers visitors 71,000 acres of forest, jagged peaks, alpine lakes, wildlife and miles of trails. The park stretches along the west side of the Medicine Bow Mountains and into the north end of the Never Summer Range.
