Housatonic Meadows State Park Comments & Reviews
Visited Housatonic Meadows State Park Campground lately? We'd love to hear about your adventure. Did you find us useful? Did we forget something? Anything our community should know before heading out to Housatonic Meadows State Park?
This is a great park. Loved camping along the river. No hook ups but even at the end of July we did not miss the air conditioner. Very quiet during the week and fill on Friday. Had an awesome dinner with 9 through hikers from the AT. They recently removed 34 of the campsites from this park to make the sites bigger. There are now 61.
Is beer and wine allowed?
Hi Brent,
Housatonic State Park does not allow any alcohol in the State Park (so no beer or wine).
I’m interested to camp at this place with big family & friends(around 5families)
Is there any playground for kids? Or falls or what kind of activities beside the hiking?
Thank u

The campground is nice, clean and spacious. The bathroom was a bit dirty but we had a blast. I will def come back again.
Dear ranger what does non electric mean & what do the cabins have?
Hi Debra,
Housatonic Meadows State Park rustic cabins have electricity, 2 bedrooms, 5 beds, a picnic table, fire ring and porch.
The campsites are ‘non-electric’ meaning there are no electric hookups at the campsites.
Please update the pictures! We reserved a spot thinking it was prime, but it is not. Pictures are not accurate to the current camp layout.
Hi Michael,
Sorry to hear the campsite photo did not reflect what you were expecting. We are planning to reshoot the campground and get several others done in Connecticut this fall. New photos should be posted later in the year.
I can confirm that the site numbers are mismatched from the photos. Almost all sites are wide open, but the sites along the river and in the left and middle loops are best.
HI Jason,
Thanks for heads up on campsite #s and photos. They may have renumbered the campsites. We will check it out and get it resolved asap.
Hi I was wondering if the showers had stalls or just curtains!
Hi Mariah,
A good question! Unfortunately we do not have any CampsitePhotos.com employee at the campground to check. Perhaps someone can comment here with an answer.
There was one shower per bathroom in a long stall with a curtain covering the entrance to the changing area. The shower itself is tucked away from the curtain. The shower is also a push-button to conserve water. I got about 20 seconds per push, which was really not a huge problem.
