Burns Lake Campground has 14 spacious campsites next to the lake in the Big Cypress National Preserve. The primitive campground is open year-round and offers backcountry access for hunters and off-road vehicle enthusiasts. There are also 9 additional OHV trailer parking spaces (not for camping).
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. There are 8 pull-through sites (3-9) for RVs (up to 50 feet) and 6 other (tent-only) sites (11-16) situated around the lake. Amenities include vault toilets. Drinking water and trash collection are not provided. Cell service is also poor in the area. Each campsite also has a table, food storage locker (bear box), fire ring and grill.
Other campgrounds in the area include Monument Lake, Pink Jeep, Midway, Mitchell’s Landing and Gator Head.
Outdoor recreation in the are includes fishing, hunting, OHV trail riding, hiking, kayaking, canoeing and wildlife viewing. A day-use / picnic area is also next to the lake.
Campers can also enjoy local sight-seeing attractions such as airboat and swamp buggy tours, museums, art galleries, and boardwalks. This campground is located close to multiple national and state parks.
