Florida Caverns State Park – Area Recreation

Florida Caverns is the only state park in Florida to offer cave tours to the public.  Spelunkers will see formations of limestone stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, flowstones and draperies.  In addition, the nearby is the Chipola River offers some dandy fishing, canoeing and boating.  Other outdoor activities include swimming, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. There’s also a nine-hole golf course at the park.

The Blue Hole is a natural spring with crystal clear waters around 64 degrees. It’s a great place to enjoy swimming, sunbathing and picnicking. Just remember that alligators also like to swim around in it too.

  1. Can you tell me how many miles of trails are available for horseback riding and are the trails well marked?

    • Hi Anne,

The Florida State Parks page has a write up on the Florida Caverns – Horse Equestrian Trail, but it does not give the mileage. You can read more up on it HERE. I’d recommend contacting the park directly to check on the mileage: 850 482-1228

Do you have any pull-through sites for RV’s?

  3. Cecilia says:

In Florida cavern State Park, do the showers have hot water?

  4. Hi! Do all the tent only campsites have electric, a table, and a fire pit? Thanks!

    • Hi Arielle,
Florida Cavern State Park tent only campsites do not have power/electricity. They do have a table, fire ring, grate, BBQ pedestal, water spigots and hammock poles.

  5. Bob Dennison says:

Do the rv sites have 50amp power, water and sewer hook ups?

  6. Susan Fetter says:

There are NOT many trees around the campsites. Site 28 is one of the few sites with shade. The campground is lovely, just not shaded

  7. Al Hodge says:

How far is from the campground to the caverns at Florida Caverns State Park.

  8. Wayne Ford says:

Is blue hole good for swimming?

    • Hi Wayne,
The Blue Hole is a natural spring with crystal clear waters around 64 degrees. It’s a great place to enjoy swimming, sunbathing and picnicking. Just remember that alligators also like to swim around in it.

  9. On your site it says RVs up to 40 feet but the official reservation site says 32. Ours is 34. Would we be good?

    • Hi Olivia,
It depends on the campsite. Some at Florida Caverns State Park are okay up to 40 feet. Others listed as 32 max may have some overhang out the back that’ll work. In the end the final call comes from the camp host/ranger.
