Hurricane Lake South Blackwater River State Forest Overview

Hurricane Lake South Campground has 18 campsites and is located on the south side of Hurricane Lake in the Blackwater River State Forest.

The campground is open year-round and is best suited for (primitive) tent camping. Each site has a parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Hookups are not available. Campground amenities include drinking water, restrooms with flush toilets, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a boat ramp and fishing dock. Firewood is available to purchase from the camp host.

Hurricane Lake South – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, birding, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great in the area.

Blackwater River State Forest is the largest state forest in Florida and has over 210,000 acres of woodlands, lakes, and streams. The forest is also part of the Florida National Scenic Trail and Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail.
