  1. Aaron Burlage says:

I recently took a trip to Jonathan Dickinson State Park. I chose campsite 107 based on the photo from this website. Unfortunately, the campsite i got did not look like the photo. The campsite was wide open without shade and right behind the bathroom facilities. I don’t know if the park renumbered their sites after the photo from the website was taken. Overall the park was nice and the staff was pleasant. We found the mountain bike trails to be fun. However, they are 3.5 mile bike ride from the campsite to the trails. This proved to be a tough ride for my 8 year old. I would suggest driving over so you will have plenty of energy to enjoy the trails. Also avoid this park during the summer as heat during day can be unbearable and bugs in evening were exceptionally thick. Sand fleas were also present and left a mark on us.

    • Hi Aaron,
Thanks so much for the comment/info on Jonathan Dickinson State Park. I’m also sorry that the photo didn’t depict the campsite accurately. It is the correct photo of the campsite, but unfortunately a hurricane wiped out the campground several years ago. It was rebuilt but offers no shade.

Our photos are of the correct sites, but are pre-hurricane. We hope to update the photos soon to reflect the changes (no shade) to the campsites.

      • The Pine Grove campground was redone after hurricane several yrs ago and has no shade. But a couple of yrs ago the River Campground was closed for quite a while and redone. 2 bathrooms now (rather than 1 in the middle) and I’m pretty sure the sites were renumbered. The few pictures that are on Reserve America look very different than the old River Campground in 2103. I had site #119 in 2013, and it is now a different #. There used to be 135 sites, now there are 142. SO – I think it would be helpful to go and take new photos of River Campground.

      • Thanks for the heads up Erica. We will try and schedule a photographer to reshoot the campgrounds in 2018.

  3. The River Campground at Jonathan Dickenson has been refurbished. None of the sites in the River Campground look like the images on this website any longer unfortunately. It is much more open than it was and now has 2 bath houses instead of 1. They have planted new trees and such, but everything is still small. They also removed the dump station from this loop. The dump station is a 4 mile drive to the loop at the front of the park. Still a great place to camp.

  4. I have never camped at JDSP, but I have driven through and looked at the campsites. I’m looking forward to camping there in the near future. My question is, why, with all the space in this park and beautiful trees, is the campground so cramped into such a small space. The potential for large wooded campsites is unlimited and yet the sites are small and very close together. I understand that Irma took down many trees, but there are still acres of wooded land and the sites were small before then. Even the cabins have superior and larger sites than those allotted to tent and small camper sites. All this being said, I’m looking to bookng a site soon.

  5. Campsite Photos has come to our rescue many times in planning for a Florida camping trip. We are super grateful they exist. No photos are ever perfect (Florida is a storm rich state and so, things change here rapidly and often!) ) but Campsite Photos does a really good job of approximating perfect. Thanks!

    • Thank you CatGo! Really appreciate the kind words and support. And you’re right about Florida being a storm rich state . . . with things changing. We definitely have Florida on our list to do a reshoot of several campgrounds (due to storm damage) to update all campsite photos and keep them current. Thanks again!

  6. Can anyone tell me what is the best cabin and how far the cabins are from the beach. Thank you

  7. Sherrill Grayson says:

We are coming to JDSP in March and staying at site 100. Is it full hook-up? How are is the beach?

    • Hello Sherrill!
All campsites have water & electric hookups (including site #100). None have full hookups. Unfortunately we (CampsitePhotos.com) do not have anyone on site at the moment so we can’t comment on current conditions at the beach.

  8. Nancy B. says:

Have the campsite photos been updated since your comment in 10/23? Thanks.
