Little Manatee River State Park has 34 campsites with full hookups and offers some nice secluded camping in a sand pine forest. Four of the campsites are for horse/equestrian camping. The campsites can accommodate trailers/RVs up to 68 feet. Group and primitive camping are also available. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Sites are separated by native Florida plants, affording campers privacy from other campsites. Our favorite campsites are: 4, 8, 19 and 23.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers and an RV dump station. Ice bags and firewood are also for sale from the campground host.
At the Park you’ll also find hiking, biking trails, bike rentals, equestrian trails, a picnic area, boat-kayak-canoe rentals, a boat ramp, a laundry and playground.
Visitors can fish along the banks of the river and wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy hiking a 6.5 mile trail through the park’s northern wilderness area. The park also has 12 miles of trails for horseback riders. Other outdoor activities include boating, canoeing, kayaking, bird watching and other wildlife viewing.
Lake Manatee State Park is another option. It has 60 water/electric campsites and is located about 22 miles to the south, off Highway 301.
