Monument Lake Campground Big Cypress National Preserve Florida

Monument Lake Overview

Monument Lake Campground has 38 spacious campsites (28 RV and 10 tent only) situated around the lake in Big Cypress National Preserve.  There are no hookups.

The popular campground is open year round. Amenities include drinking water, vault and flush toilets, showers and trash collection. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is good in the area.

The RV campsites surround the lake offering a view from every site. Each campsite is open with limited to no shade. Tent sites (4 to 13) are tucked away from the RV area and close to the campground host and restroom. Each site also has a parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Shared food storage lockers (bear box) are also available in the tent camping area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Burns Lake, Pink Jeep, Midway, Mitchell’s Landing and Gator Landing.

Monument Lake Campground – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the are includes fishing, hunting, OHV trail riding, hiking, kayaking, canoeing and wildlife viewing. A day-use / picnic area is also next to the lake.

Campers can also enjoy local sight-seeing attractions such as airboat and swamp buggy tours, museums, art galleries, and boardwalks. This campground is located close to multiple national and state parks.
