Cotton Hill Comments & Reviews
Visited Cotton Hill Campground lately? We'd love to hear about your adventure. Did you find us useful? Did we forget something? Anything our community should know before heading out to Cotton Hill?
Site 26 is perfect! Driveway is long enough to park a boat and 2 vehicles. Had rain during the week, the only standing water was at the front of the camper. Full hook up a big plus! I did not visit the laundry and restroom facilities, so can’t comment on these. The water is shallow behind this site, but was able to pull the boat up to the shore. Watch out for the alligators, they are present during the day and at night. No problem with ants at this site. Camped May 2018 and the May flies had just hatched, the lake was covered with them…meaning good fishing!
Is the campground open next week the15th thru the 19th are is close due to storm?
Hi Jimmy,
I recommend calling Cotton Hill campground directly to get the status on whether they are open or not. The phone number is: 229 768-3061
Are there any 30 Amp. Electric plugs on the camp site?
Hi Jimmy,
The hookups at Cotton Hill are 50 amp.
Thank you
Unless they’ve changed in the last couple weeks, they have both 50 amp and 30 plugs at each site
Hi Jack,
Thanks so much for the heads up on Cotton Hill amps. We confirmed and made the change.
Want to make reservation for May 23 to27
Hi Steven,
You can click on the Make A Reservation button on the Cotton Hill campground page (this page), to check availability, pricing and make a reservation at Cotton Hill campground.
Are electric golf carts allowed at campground?
Hi Virginia,
Golf carts are allowed at Cotton Hill campground.
Are there any sites that you can get a signal for a rooftop satellite?
Hi Susan,
Most of the campsites at Cotton Hill campground should be able to get rooftop satellite reception.
Hi Susan,
Most Cotton Hill campsites should get a signal for a rooftop satellite.
Beautiful campground & prices were awesome but the warming reception definitely not here. It is the worst I’ve ever seen from two volunteers. Very unfriendly, hateful especially the husband he was that cold as a glacier.
One of the prettiest campgrounds we’ve been to! The campsites are very well groomed and cared for. The beach area was spacious, with the playground nearby. The check- in couple was very helpful and accommodating. Perfect place to enjoy the lake and camp with your family. We will be back!
When and WHY did the 16 day return visit come into play? Staying for 2 weeks, wanted to renew for two more at a different site, was told once you check out..you can’t check into any site for 16 DAYS. So, if you come for a weekend..you can’t come back for 16 days. ? What idiot made up that ignorant rule?
Hi Glynn,
Sorry to hear about the change in policy for return visits at Cotton Hill campground. Either the campground or Recreation.gov (the reservation agency) made the decision to change it.
We rode through your campground this past week-end and loved it. It’s been highly recommended by several friends and we see why!!
I understand that there are only certain sites which are able to be reserved. If we have a first come site and a reservable site becomes available, will we be allowed to move to the reserved site?
Also on a previous comment above from someone else, it was indicated that golf carts are allowed. But when we rode through the park, we were told that they aren’t allowed. Which is correct?
Thanks!
Hi Angela,
Glad you liked Cotton Hill campground! We’ve heard both – golf carts were okay, and also that they were not allowed. Since a camp host or ranger told you no, then that’s probably the policy. You could call the campground directly to inquire at: 229 768-3061
We want to stay in the tent area in the back near the water but need to be very close to the restrooms. Any suggestions?
Hi Pam,
I’d suggest you click on the ‘Campground Map’ button. The map will give you an idea of where the campsites are located in related to the water and restrooms.
Your new policy of reserve only makes it difficult for us who want to stay for 2 weeks because of 2day weekend reservations. Maybe designate half the campground for 2 week stay and half for weekenders. Your available site chart has site numbers not in sequence making it difficult to get 2 sites together. Just my thoughts.
Your campgrounds are the only ones we use because they are so nice and convenient for use. When we come we like to stay for two weeks. This is difficult because of all the weekends booked far in advance. I would like you to consider reserving half the campgrounds for weekenders and the other half for those who wish to stay longer. I’m sure you have heard this comment before but I wish u would consider it.
Does CottonHill have sewer hookups for RV sites?
Hi Patty,
Yes – Cotton Hill Campground has 94 full hookup sites – electric (30 & 50 amp), water and sewer.
his was our first time at Cotton Hill. We really liked the campground; however; the double sites of 30/31 is very steep and holds water for a while. We dug in the pavement to the point of loosening our spare tires and scraping the bumper; as well as the other family member’s trailer. The description did not indicate a steep slope or we would not have reserved this one.
We were very pleased with the campground. our camping trip was very enjoyable. We would like to come back in June 2023. When can you book for next year.
When I was younger there were cabins between the marina and the lodge, do they still rent the cabins out? I rented one before, they were very nice.
Hi Barbara,
You’re probably thinking about George T. Bagby State Park. It has cottages/cabins available to rent. The cottages are between the lodge and marina.
Are side by side aloud in Cotton Hill campground ?
Hi Carl,
I do not believe so. You may want to call to confirm at: 229 768-3061
Here is what I found (online) under Hunting Regulations at Walter F. George Lake / U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managed properties:
Off-road operation, driving around a barricade, and the operation of any non-licensed
vehicles, such as motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles, to include four wheelers, three
wheelers, and utility vehicles (side by sides) are prohibited on Corps managed property.
