Fort McAllister State Park campground has 65 single-family campsites and is located close to the Ogeechee River among a grove of giant live oaks on Savage Island. There are also 3 cottages, 2 picnic shelters, 1 group shelter, 1 pioneer camp and 1 backcountry campsite.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers ($), laundry, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a playground, boat ramp and fishing pier. Canoe, kayak and paddle boards are available for rent.

Fort McAllister  State Park – Area Recreation

The park encompasses 1,725 acres on the banks of the Ogeechee River and has the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy.  Visitors can explore the many historic sites and Civil War museum. Other outdoor activities include fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, archery, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
