Fort Mountain State Park Overview

Fort Mountain State Park has 94 campsites and is located at the southwestern end of the Cohutta Mountains near the Choutta Wilderness.  The campground is also near Fort Mountain Lake. There are 70 campsites with electric hookups that can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs, 4 walk-to sites, 6 platform sites, 3 pioneer sites and 4 backcountry sites.  Fifteen cottages are also available to rent.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, laundry facilities, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a gift shop, playground, picnic areas, miniature golf and water-craft rentals. Firewood is also available for purchase.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation includes canoeing, kayaking, paddle board, swimming, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, miniature golf, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

You might also like Bald Ridge Creek campground down by Lake Sidney Lanier. Morganton Pont Campground is also nice.
