George L. Smith State Park offers lakeside camping and cottages in a beautiful forested setting of southern Georgia. It is best known for the refurbished Parrish Mill and Pond, a combination gristmill, saw mill, covered bridge and dam built in 1880.
The park has 24 developed campsites (for tents, trailers and RVs). All of these have water & electric hookups. There are also 4 primitive (walk to / tent only) campsites, 1 group (“Pioneer”) site and 10 cottages available to rent.
A group shelter near the bridge is popular for family reunions and parties. Some campsites sit right on the water’s edge, while cottages with gas fireplaces and screened porches are nestled into the woods. The pioneer (group) campsite can accommodate up to 40 people.
Park amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, laundry facilities, trash collection and a dump station. There is also a playground, picnic area, fishing pier, boat launch, kayak/canoe rentals, and hiking/biking trails. WiFi is available and the park office/ranger station and cell coverage is fair.
Outdoor recreation includes boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, fishing, biking, hiking and wildlife viewing. You can also visit the historic Mill House and covered bridge.
You might also like Jack Hill State Park to the south or Magnolia Springs State Park to the north.
