Petersburg Campground has 93 beautiful campsites along the shore of J. Storm Thurmond Lake near Appling, Georgia. It’s also the closest campground to Augusta National Golf Course (home of the Masters Golf Tournament each April).
Every campsite has a view of Strom Thurmond Lake and most campsites have 50-amp electric/water hookups (only campsites 65-72 do not have hookups). All of the sites also have a table, lantern post, fire ring and grill.
Petersburg Campground has drinking water, flush and vault toilets, showers and an RV dump station. There’s also a boat ramp nearby, fishing dock, fish cleaning stations, picnic shelter, playground and laundry facility. Cell service is good in the area.
Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of outdoor recreation at Petersburg Campground and Strom Thurmond Lake including: boating, canoeing, kayaking, water-skiing, jet skiing, swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, bird watching, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. Plus there are museums, art galleries, zoos, restaurants and shopping areas in nearby towns.
Mistletoe State Park is another option. It’s 14 miles away and located on Clarks Hill Lake. The campground has 93 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. Ridge Road Campground is also nice.

We are trying to get some information about booking a group of sites and hosting a wedding. We would like to know if this is permitted within the camp ground. We have tried to call and there is no one available to talk through details.
