Elk Creek (Clearwater Nf) Overview

Elk Creek Campground (Clearwater National Forest) has 24 campsites near Elk Creek and less than a mile from the town of Elk River in north central Idaho. It’s also only a few minutes from the largest waterfall in Idaho and the largest and oldest cedar tree east of the cascade range.

The campground is set in a mature pine forest and is generally open mid May to early October. Campground amenities include drinking water (spigots) and vault toilets. Trash collection is not provided. Firewood is available to purchase from the camp host.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. There are 13 that are reservable and these have electric hookups. There are also 11 other first-come, first-serve sites (no hookups).  Each site also has a parking spur (30 to 40 feet), table, fire ring and grill.

Elk Creek Campground – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds in the area include Dent Acres and Pink House Recreation Site.
