Johnson Bar Campground & Group Site Overview

Johnson Bar Campground & Group Site is next to the beautiful Selway River and has 9 single-family campsites (first-come, first-serve). One reservable group campsite is also available.

The individual (single-family) campsites are open year-round (weather permitting) and the group site can be reserved between mid May through September.

Campground amenities include drinking water (May-Sep) and vault toilets (Apr – Oct). Cell service is not available in the area. There is also a picnic / day use area and a nice swim beach.

Nearby campgrounds in the area include Rackliff, Slide Creek, Twentymile Bar, Boyd Creek, Glover, Gedney Creek, Fog Mountain, Race Creek, Selway Falls, CCC and Wild Goose. Other campgrounds (within 60 minutes) include Apgar, Knife Edge, Glade Creek and Wilderness Gateway.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great in the area. The Selway River offers some nice whitewater rafting and kayaking from April to June. Watercraft can launch from the swim beach.
