Sam Owen Overview

Sam Owen Campground has 82 campsites and is located on a peninsula on the east side beautiful Lake Pend Oreille at an elevation of 2,000 feet.

The popular campground is generally open mid May to late September. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, trash collection and a dump station. Hookups are not available.  There’s also a paved overflow parking area, amphitheater, picnic area, swim beach, boat ramp and boat trailer lot. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is fair in the area.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a parking spur (ranging in size from 25 to 50 feet), table, fire ring and grill.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, swimming, water sports, star gazing, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds in the area include Springy Point, Dorr Skeels and Riley Creek.
