Summit View Campground Caribou-Targhee National Forest Idaho

Summit View Overview

Summit View Campground is a 19 single-family site campground located 8 miles east of US Hwy 30 in the Great Western Trail corridor. Situated in a forest setting, this campground can host tents, trailers and RVs of varying sizes (up to 60 feet). There are also 3 Group Use Sites as well, with capacities of 25 and 50 persons respectively.

The 17-acre campground is generally open late May to the end of September. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host.  Cell service is not available in the area.

Summit View Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, mountain biking, OHV trail riding, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The Harrington Peak trail, a 3.5-mile one-way trail to the summit, begins within the campground. During the fall, wild huckleberries can be found in abundance throughout the campground.

You might also like Montpelier Canyon Campground. Blackfoot Reservoir Campground is also about an hour away.
