Coon Creek Recreation Area Campground Lake Shelbyville Illinois

Coon Creek Recreation Area Overview

Coon Creek Recreation Area 046

Coon Creek Recreation Area Campground has 181 campsites (50% are reservable), and is located on a bluff overlooking Lake Shelbyville. All sites have electric hookups. We only have photographs for sites 1-61 because the campground was going through a clean up at the time we did the photography. Group camping is also available.

The campground has lots of trees that provide nice shade to the campsites. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a table, lantern pole, fire ring and grill.  Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers ($) and a dump station. There’s also a boat ramp, visitor center, amphitheater, picnic area, playground and mixed-used trails in the area. Cell service is good in the area.

This is my wife and i first time camping. We bought a 29 foot wildwood pull behind camper. We was wondering about cost per day or per week how ever you do it. Please let me know. Thank you jack.

FYI – Coon Creek is currently closed for renovation. No reservations are being taken at this time. The notice on recreation.gov says to check back November 5th, 2021 to view availability.

  4. Dana Smith says:

Do you offer year round camping where we can just leave the camper year round?

    • HI Dana,
CampsitePhotos.com is not associated with the campgrounds listed on our site. We provide the photos of each campsite, campground availability alerts and links to the reservation agencies. I doubt Coon Creek campground allows camping for the entire year, but you can call the campground to confirm at: 217-774-3951
