Fort Massac State Park overlooks the Ohio River and the campground has 50 Class A (electric hookup) campsites in a wooded area close to the historic area. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Tent camping and a separate group camping area are also available.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers (bathhouse) and dump station. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. The Park also has a playground, picnic area, boat ramp, visitor center, museum and other historic sites.
The park features a replica of the historic fort that was originally built by the French in 1757. After they abandoned it in 1763 the Chickasaws burned it to the ground. President George Washington rebuilt the fort 1794, but it was again destroyed during the New Madrid earthquake in 1811-1812.
Outdoor recreation at the park includes boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, disc golf, picnicking, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. You can also visit the replica of the 1802 fort, visitor center, museum and other historic areas.
