Ramsey Lake State Recreation Area campground has 91 single-family (mixed-used) campsites on a bluff above Ramsey Lake. Each site has electricity, a table, fire ring and grate. Sites 1 to 30 are not reservable, but the rest are. Plenty of large trees provide good shade to most campsites. Equestrian and group camping are also available.
The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers ($) and a dump station. There’s also a concession stand near the boat dock. It sells food, firewood, ice and fishing supplies.
The area includes rolling hills, timbered shoreline and beautiful Ramsey Lake. Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, picnicking and hunting. You can also enjoy ice-fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, sledding and ice-skating during the winter.
If you’re plans take you south, you may want to check out Horseshoe Lake State Park. It has 25 campsites a short distance to the lake.

Campsites were nice and clean. Big drop to the water so no campsite fishing, you have to go elsewhere on the lake for that. Shower house was clean and very nice. Website indicates there is a camp store, concession stand, visitor center. Not a big deal, but there was no place to buy firewood which we were counting on. None in town either. But town is nearby so if you need anything else, there’s a Dollar General and Caseys not too far.
