Taylorsville Lake State Park Campground is located close to the lake and has 70 single-family campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. There are 44 RV sites with electric hookups, 10 sites for equestrian campers (also with electric hookups), and 15 tent-only campsites. The campsites are large and spread out with each also having a table, fire ring and grill.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, a laundry and dump station. There’s also a camp store, volleyball court, playground and picnic area.
The lake is a favorite of both wranglers and anglers. Fishing is excellent and the 1,200-acre park encompasses some of the most beautiful riding country around, not far away from Kentucky’s biggest city. There is also a 16-mile trail system managed for mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders.
If you’re heading north, you may want to check out Big Bone Lick State Historic Site (just south of Cincinnati).
