Smallwood State Park is located right along Mattawoman Creek, a tributary of the Potomac River. The campground has 19 campsites (with water & electric hookups) and 7 cabins.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 30 feet). Each site has water & electric hookups, a table, fire ring and grill.
Amenities include drinking water, restrooms with flush toilets and showers, firewood ($), trash collection and a dump station. The 628-acre park also has a 50-boat slip marina, boat launch ramps, boat trailer parking, picnic areas, pavilions, playground, an amphitheater and nature trails.

This park was named after General William Smallwood, a Revolutionary War officer and fourth governor of Maryland. His restored plantation house is open to visitors.
