Situated on the shores of Lake Michigan, Van Buren State Park campground has 220 campsites (66 with electric hookups) for tents, trailers and RVs. The campground is about 400 yards from the lake and large sandy beach. The campground has modern restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. There’s also drinking water, a playground, camp host and RV dump station. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grate. Some of shade and others not so much.
The campground opens April 1 and usually closes December 1. The modern bathhouse facilities are available from April 15 to November 1.
Van Buren State Park is a great place to talk a stroll on the mile-long beach, sunbath, swim, kayak, canoe, fishing and picnic. You can also hike, bike, enjoy the wildlife and even head on in to South have to do some shopping, get supplies or eat at one of its many restaurants.
Warren Dunes State Park is another nice option and is also located on Lake Michigan about 35 miles to the south.
