Warren Dunes State Park campground has two camping areas (a ‘modern/dune’ and ‘semi-modern’). The campsite photos we have listed are for Warren Dunes State Park MODERN (dune) campground, also known at Mt. Randall Campground.
The modern/dune campground has 185 campsites (all with electric hookups), 24 rustic sites and 3 mini-cabins. Dry RV “Beach” camping is also available during the summer months in a parking lot adjacent to the water. Check in time is 3pm and check out is 1pm. The Registration Office is open 8am to 10pm.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers ($) and a sanitation dump station. Firewood is also available for sale at the campground.
You’ll find some big sand dunes at Warren Dunes, including formations that rise 240 feet above the lake offering fantastic views. Some of the park’s dunes include Mt. Fuller, Pikes Peak, and Mt. Edwards, while the best known is Tower Hill, the highest point in the park, standing 240 feet above Lake Michigan.
There’s also three miles of lake shoreline and 6 miles of hiking trails. The day use area consists of several picnic grounds with rentable shelters. A fabulous sandy swimming beach is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. A concession store sells refreshments and souvenirs. Hiking trails are located in the northern natural area of the park. Marked trails are available between the sun-drenched shores and the canopied forest. In addition to picnicking and hiking, other outdoor activities include biking, hunting (small game), boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, sand sledding, bird watching/wildlife viewing and metal detecting. In the winter you can enjoy cross-country skiing, sledding and tobogganing.
Van Buren State Park is another option and is also located on Lake Michigan about 35 miles to the north.
