Forestville-Mystery Cave State Park has two separate campgrounds with 128 campsites and is located in a wooded area near the Root river. The main campground has 73 campsites (23 with electric) and the equestrian campground has 55 campsites (23 with electric). There’s also a group site and 5 cabins available to rent.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a table, grill and fire ring. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets and hot showers ($). There’s also a dump station, visitor center, nature store/gift shop and firewood available for sale.
The park offers a wide variety of outdoor fun. Three of Minnesota’s top trout streams converge within the park. Other recreational activities include horseback riding, biking, hiking, hunting, and wildlife viewing. The historic town-site of Forestville is also located in the Park and with a walking tour through restored buildings. And of course there are tours to the ‘Mystery Cave” where visitors can see stalactites, stalagmites and underground pools.
