Fort Ridgely State Park Campground has 39 single-family campsites (15 w/electric hookups) and is located close to the historic fort and museum. There are also 3 walk-in, 1 group, and 25 equestrian.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets and hot showers ($). There is also a picnic shelter, playground, volleyball, horseshoes, a 9-hole golf course and amphitheater. Firewood is also available for sale at the park office. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Hammock permitted sites include 7, 21, 25, 27, 33 and 37.
Fort Ridgely State Park features the historic outpost. In addition to the fort’s ruins, there is a museum and cemetery to visit and learn about Minnesota’s early history regarding this conflict. The Park also offers plenty of outdoor recreation including a 9-hole golf course, hiking, bike riding, horseback riding, fishing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and wildlife viewing.

Had never visited a state park in southern Minnesota but was pleasantly surprised at Fort Ridgley. Nice walking trails and mountain biking are excellent. The historic piece of Fort Ridgley alone is worth the visit.
