Lake Carlos State Park has an Upper & Lower campground with a total of 121 sites (81 with electric hookups). Lower campground is near the lake (sites 109 to 124 are lakefront), and Upper campground is in a more secluded and wooded area. There are also 77 equestrian campsites, 2 group camps and 4 cabins.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush & vault toilets, hot showers and a dump station. There’s also a nature store/gift shop, visitor center, interpretive exhibit and firewood available for sale.
The park has a bog, marshes, ponds and lakes that were formed by ancient glaciers. Many outdoor recreation activities revolve around the lake including boating, fishing, swimming and water sports. Other activities include biking, hiking, picnicking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. Visitors can also enjoy ice-fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the winter.
You may also like Glendalough State Park, Mille Lacs Kathy State Park or Father Hennepin State Park. Lake Maria State Park also offers backcountry, group and camper cabins.
